Foot Care
Dr. Matthew Booth has a special interest in treating pain and injuries of the feet. Often referred to as the "foot specialist" he has a developed extensive knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic and neurological problems with the feet.
The feet are each made up of 26 bones, resulting in 33 joints, but unlike the other joints of the body, the ones in the feet are required to work under the stress of our full body weight. Because of this fact, manual therapies targeting the feet need to be aggressive enough to make an impact.
What sets us apart from other foot care clinics, is our specialized techniques in restoring the biomechanics of the feet, combined with expert level knowledge of the biomechanics of the body. With a variety of effective, proven treatment techniques, we're able to get more sufferers of foot and ankle pain feeling a level of relief after a single visit.
Common Conditions
The most common issue we see. Plantar fasciitis is a very treatable condition that should be address as soon as possible.
Usually the result of poor circulation or nerve damage to the feet. Can often be very annoying and affect sleep.
A common injury that, if not property rehabilitated and lead to chronic issues and recurring sprains.
Usually attributed to tight fitting shoes, this condition can make walking painful.
The feet and ankles take more stress than any other joints in the body. This makes them prone to wear and tear.
Due to poor mechanics, bad footwear, or injury, these are structural problems that only get worse if left unchecked.
Medical device that provides a corrective insole for your shoes, made from a 3d mould of your feet.
What to Expect?
Every appointment begins with a thorough history and examination. Once we have established the correct diagnosis, we will go over treatment options.
Our approach to foot care is non-invasive - that means no surgeries or injections. Instead, we focus on the best conservative care options.
Two major hurdles to recovering from foot pain and injury are poor foot mechanics, and poor circulation. To address these issues we often recommend some combination of:
-
Manual therapy (massage, mobilization, and manipulation) to restore proper muscle, tendon, and joint movement.
-
Acupuncture to reduce pain, improve nerve functioning, improve circulation, and promote healing.
-
Rehabilitative Exercise to strengthen weak muscles, restore coordination, and improve circulation.
-
Red Light Therapy to improve the circulation and healing.
-
Custom Foot Orthotics if needed to correct the biomechanics of the foot and gait cycle.
